This is What it Takes

One of my best friends Mark Allen is preparing to take his AMGA Alpine Guide Exam.  Already an AMGA Certified Ski and Rock Guide, when Mark passes (and he will pass) the Alpine Exam he will also become an IFMGA Certified Mountain Guide.  There are presently less than 70 IFMGA Mountain Guides in the US, so Mark will be joining a select group!  To get ready, Mark spent most of the summer guiding in the cradle of modern mountain guiding, Chamonix, France.  In Europe, access is king and that means you can get more climbing done in less time.  For a guide preparing for an exam like this, the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps simply can't be beat.  Mark's exam starts on 12 September.
