Adventure Idea for January: Expedition Ski Mountaineering at 7500 meters in China.

Ready to take your backcountry skiing to a whole new level? Then come with me to ski Mustagh Ata, a 7546 meter (or 24,757 feet) in June. This is a true expedition - travel to some of the most remote country in the world, amongst three unique cultures (Han Chinese, Uighur, and Tajik), base camp and tietan mountain staff to help us establish and stock three camps, an incredible 360-degree view of the Tibetan plateau, and a two-day, breath-taking (pun intended) descent down.

I climbed and skied this peak in 2007, as the Mountain Madness ski guide on a joint Mountain Madness / Summit Climb trip, with logistical support provided by Blue Sheep Travel.

If you're serious about this, I'd also recommend a ski-descent trip of Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, or Mt. Shuksan to really set you up for success. Here's a slide show to whet your appetite:
