Playground Rules

There are never enough women participating in mountain sports.  And there are a lot of off-color jokes about women who live in mountain sport towns.  The gender disparity is even more evident in climbing or backcountry skiing.  So what do you call a day of climbing with 4 women?

Jenn, Rachel, Rhonda and Ronda tumbled out of the mini-van late on Thursday morning, but I didn't mind.  It was a mixed bag of climbing experience, from complete novice to veteran, so I wanted to keep it simple and fun.  And off we went to Playground Point.  Spent the first half of the day at the Baby sector, getting used to the gear and the techniques.  After we felt good and warmed up we finished the day working out the moves on a 5.7 and a 5.8.

Statistics:  2011 06 02.  Northwest Mountain School, Leavenworth, WA; Icicle Canyon, Playground Point.  5 routes climbed, 5.4-5.8.
